Aromatherapy





Aromatherapy is the art of using essential oils extracted from aromatic plants that can treat a wide range of problems from stress and insomnia, anxiety, menstrual cramps, nervousness, depression and fatigue. 


Essential oils or essence are made by distillation of herbs, plants and flowers. They all have different therapeutic effects on the body.

If you never tried using aromatherapy these tips will be helpful you get started.
1. Don't be mistaken with perfume oils and essential oils. They are different. In aromatherapy essential oils are used for its health benefits.

2. Not all essential oils are safe to use. Make sure you ask a qualified aromatherapy practitioner before using them. Hazardous oils like Ajowan, bitter almond, Arnica, sweet birch, boldo leaf, broom, calamus, camphor, deertongue, garlic, horse radish, jaborandi, melilotus, mugwort, mustar, onion, pennyroyal, rue, sassafras, thuja, wintergreen, wormwood and wormseed should be avoided.

3. It is not safe to use undiluted essential oils.
4. When using the oils. Keep them away from mucous membranes and eyes.

5. Some people are allergic to oils. So if you have sensitive skin, try some oil on a small patch of skin before using it. See if there's irritation, redness or itching after 24 hours.

6. Take precaution with the dose if you're using it on children under 12 years. Just use half a dose but don't use it on infants. You can use it for children 6 and above.

7. Do not use essential oils if you have high blood pressure or are on medication for high blood pressure.

8. When storing your oils. Use a dark bottle like cobalt or amber and put them in cool dark place.
